Christy--
I can suggest two books that in combination could replicate Ancestry?s
Redbook and are terrific resources.
The Phillimore Atlas & Index of Parish Registers, 3rd Edition (2003),
by Cecil Humphrey-Smith is available at Amazon.com.
This book contains maps of each county in England, Wales and
Scotland with its parish boundaries and names of bordering counties.
Also, there is an index, by county, listing each parish, the
known years of its parish registers, where the registers can be found, and
if these registers were entered into the I.G.I. It is so
listed; if marriages were included in Boyd?s marriage index it is so listed,
plus much more.
Some of the maps can seem small, especially when there are
many parishes to be named within its boundaries, but each map can be
photocopied at 120 per cent (or more!) to zero in on any
section of that county.
Ancestral Trails. The Complete Guide to British Genealogy and Family
History, 2nd Edition (2006), by Mark Herber
is available from Genealogical Publishing <www.genealogical.com>
